Dr. Kanika Bembey is with Encinitas Periodontics and Dental Implants. She grew up in India, went to dental school there, and currently lives in California.
In an unusual move, she took over a practice from an owner and worked for him for a few months as an associate, then switched, so he's now her associate and she’s the business owner. It’s going well.
Dr. Bembey performs LANAP, laser assisted gum surgery. “It's minimally invasive. That means we are not using the traditional blades to cut away your gums. Laser is just light and does minimal cutting. It's also no sutures or stitches that I have to put in because I'm not doing a traditional surgery.”
She also uses what she calls platelet-rich fibrin procedure, which uses the patient’s own blood plasma. “Plasma has concentrated growth factors, which helps you heal faster and better. If there's a one-day-old wound and we are putting a plasma dressing on top of it, it behaves like a one-week-old wound.”

Dr. Bembey, DDS, MS is a Periodontist based in Encinitas, CA. She graduated from UCLA school of Dentistry in 2015. . Dr. Bembey continued her education post UCLA and went on to finish specialty training in Periodontics and Dental Implants at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she received a certificate in Periodontics in addition to a Master in Science in Dentistry. Dr. Bembey is Board Certified Periodontist by the American Board of Periodontology since 2018. She is very well versed in providing patients every current option for their dental care. Dr. Bembey excels in all aspects of dentistry including non-surgical and surgical periodontal therapy.
She is extensively trained in the latest procedures of periodontal bone regeneration, and soft and hard tissue grafting, including sinus grafting and placement of dental implants. She is providing the LANAP laser therapy for patients along with PRF growth factors.
